Michael's mother is a 'Diddicoy' (Her mother an Irish traveler, and father a direct descendent of Roma kings) and while she never chose to live the traditional lifestyle, she still holds the old world beliefs of magic, spirits and spells close to her heart and turns to the faith of her black blood in times of need. Whether it was fate or misfortune, she fell for a charismatic and volatile Roma man of the river clan when she was only sixteen years old and bore him two children. The man she loved, but never married, was a wanderer at heart and never adjusted to the life of a partner or father.
Wild at heart, he took up drinking and drugs to escape the stagnancy of his life. When Michael asks after the fate of his father he’s told he fell drunk into the river of his people and drowned. Truth, protective words of a mother trying to spare her child further pain of abandonment, or a deeper deception entirely? It seems entirely plausible Michael’s wild and enigmatic father was of the Unseelie court, and after growing bored of playing at a human life, abandoned his human lover and two half-breed children to return to the Other Realm.
Roma, being as deeply spiritual and earthily connected as they are, would also hold some magnetism to the Fae. They are one of the few peoples who have not forgotten the old stories and mystic ways and often look to spirits for guidance. There is likely Fae blood farther down the line than Michael's father, perhaps starting with the Roma kings themselves who were said to have powerful mystical abilities.
Role:
Michael’s only real allegiance is to himself and his family, and has no compunctions about working the scene from every available angle. Eager to prove himself capable at more than just numbers, he’s looking for the perfect networking opportunity for the family business to gain a foothold in London and will look high and low to find it.
When he’s not sticking his nose where it doesn’t belong, he’s taking advantage of the facilities and training at Redbright to hone his abilities. A connection to the Hillingdon Clan provides the perfect opportunity to meet other criminals and outliers who might seek to work around the edges of the factions for their own gains.

When Michael was only five years old both he and his sister were removed from his parents by police upon reports of neglect and substance abuse, and were quickly separated.Michael was placed with a well-off family in a small town. His adoptive parents called him Henry, and led a privileged life with all the comforts of a middle-class home.
Raised to believe his mother was an abusive drug addict and that he had been abandoned rather than taken away, so he wouldn't seek out his birth mother or long for his previous life. Though his adoptive parents had only meant to protect him, Michael's earliest memories are of being unwanted.
Michael was a good albeit spoiled child. He rode horses, excelled at his studies (maths especially) and was noted among the brightest and most talented boys in his school. Polite, cheerful and quick-witted he could have been popular with minimal effort- but Michael had never craved the approval or acceptance of his peers.
The truth was he hated the town, his school and everyone in it. Beneath the surface of his smile was a deep unrest. There was a hole in his heart that grew as he did, and with each passing year he became more aware of his own
